Regional Deputy Director, National Weather Service Pacific Region (NOAA)
Ed Young serves as Regional Deputy Director of the National Weather Service Pacific Region, which oversees weather forecast and data collection offices in Hawaii, Guam, American Samoa, Federated States of Micronesia, Republic of the Marshall Islands, and the Republic of Palau. The Region also operates the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center and, along with UNESCO, hosts the International Tsunami Information Center in Honolulu.
Mr. Young is a strong proponent for building telecommunications capacity, particularly for delivery of critical hazard messages to remote Pacific Islands. He serves as the Chair of the RANET-Pacific Communications Steering Committee, and is one of the founders of the Executive Council (Navigators) for the Pacific Risk Management 'Ohana (PRiMO: www.primohui.org).
