Koichi Maruyama joined International Digital Communication (IDC) in 1989, and became a senior manager for network planning and then for new business development. Cable and Wireless bought IDC in 1999, he became Vice President in charge of wholesale and partner business in Asia. In 2007, he joined IIJ and was in charge of establishing the MVNO business. In April 2012, he set up the Global Business Division, in charge of the global expansion of the whole IIJ group. He acquired an MBA from IMD at Lausanne in 2002.
